Technology Road Maps (TRM)
"Various forms of roadmaps have been successfully utilised, however in its
most basic form it can be considered as a time-based chart consisting of a
number of layers that can typically include commercial, technological,
legislative and environmental perspectives. These TRM charts are effective
communication tools as they allow the user to visualise the evolution of
markets, products and technologies - and the linkages between them" [RAPRA E-zine,
Friday 26 November 2004 20:46].
Developing a Technology Roadmap* requires three steps:
- Market requirements forecast,
- Product implications forecast, and
- Technology implications forecast.
